Rolling in a Mat Class Chaos at Shirakawa High

Aira and her classmates experience a chaotic but fun rolling in a mat class at Shirakawa High. A playful collision, laughter, teasing, and a little crush drama make their day unforgettable.

Rolling in a Mat Class Chaos

The Morning Buzz

Shirakawa High was unusually loud that morning. Even before the bell rang, students could already be heard chatting excitedly in the courtyard. A bright sun hung over the school grounds, warming the breeze and lighting up the rows of PE equipment set outside the main building.

Today was something special.
Today was Rolling in a Mat Class.

For the girls, this was one of the most fun lessons of the year. Instead of the usual running drills or stretching routines, the PE department rolled out a long green mat on the ground outside. The class would take turns performing forward rolls while their teachers supervised closely.

Aira, with her neatly tied hair and bright eyes, arrived with her friends Mei and Hikari. They walked toward the mat set in the open area right in front of the school building, where a long line of students had already formed.

“It is so warm today. Perfect for rolling,” Mei said with a cheerful smile.

“Perfect for messing up my hair too,” Hikari joked while holding her skirt down as a light breeze brushed by.

Aira giggled. “Come on. It is our turn to be first today. Sensei said our line goes first.”

The three girls walked toward the front, joining the rest of their classmates as their female teacher, Miss Hayami, prepared a clipboard.

“Girls, line up properly,” Miss Hayami said. “We will roll one by one. Please wait for the person in front of you to fully finish their roll before starting. Safety first.”

The girls nodded.
Safety was important.
But fun was too.

Aira whispered to Hikari, “Try not to go too fast this time.”

Hikari puffed her cheeks. “I only went fast once.”

Mei laughed softly. “That is why you bumped into the mat last week.”

The three girls smiled in anticipation.

The First to Roll

Mei stood at the very front of the line. She straightened her blouse, took a small breath, and stepped onto the green mat.

Her classmates clapped quietly behind her.

“Go Mei,” Aira whispered.

Mei crouched, placed her palms on the mat, tucked her head, and rolled smoothly forward. She landed on her feet, stood up, and bowed shyly.

The girls applauded.

Miss Hayami wrote something on her clipboard. “Excellent form, Mei. Very clean.”

Mei stepped aside, cheeks warm from praise.

Aira’s turn.

“Good luck,” Hikari whispered. “Do not flop.”

Aira giggled. “I will not flop.”

She stepped onto the mat, feeling the slightly warm surface beneath her palms. The mat smelled faintly of rubber and sunlight. She took a breath and leaned forward.

Her body rolled smoothly over the mat’s soft surface, her skirt shifting slightly but nothing unusual. She landed sitting down and laughed before standing up again.

Her classmates clapped, and Aira felt a small burst of pride.

She took one step aside.

Which was when the trouble began.

The Sudden Bump

Hikari, excited and a little impatient, looked at Mei and Aira’s successful rolls and decided she wanted to go next immediately.

She stepped onto the mat too early.

She crouched down.

She placed her hands on the mat.

She rolled forward at the exact moment Aira was just stepping to the side.

Aira was halfway off the mat when she felt something soft and fast crash into her hip.

“Ah- wait, Hikari!”
But it was too late.

Hikari rolled straight into Aira, knocking her off balance.

Aira toppled sideways, falling gently onto the mat. Hikari lost her balance too, rolling off the side and landing next to her friend in a tangled but harmless heap.

There was a quiet second of silence.
Then the entire class burst into laughter.

Hikari lifted her head with embarrassment. “I… I forgot to wait.”

Aira laughed too even though she was still half-lying on the mat. “You always do.”

The green mat now had small streaks of dirt and bits of dried grass clinging to their blouses. Their skirts had lifted a little during the chaos, but no one in the class seemed bothered at all. They all knew this happened often during PE.

Miss Hayami laughed as she shook her head. “Girls, please listen when I say one at a time. But good teamwork getting tangled like that.”

Aira offered Hikari her hand, and the two stood up together.

Haruto Arrives

From the side of the crowd, a boy waved awkwardly.

“Hey, Aira. Are you okay?” Haruto asked.

Aira stiffened slightly. Haruto was one of her classmates, and he had been quietly watching the practice session. Everyone knew Haruto had a crush on her, except maybe Aira herself, who kept pretending not to notice.

Haruto stepped closer. “Your skirt got dirt on it. Do you want help standing or something?”

Aira shook her head quickly, cheeks warming. “N… no, it is okay. I am fine.”

Hikari smirked behind her. “She is okay Haruto. But thanks for worrying about her.”

Aira lightly tapped Hikari’s shoulder. “Stop.”

Haruto gave a nervous smile. “Okay. Just making sure.”

The moment was sweet, harmless, and innocent.

At least for Aira and Haruto.

But not everyone approved.

The Villain Group Reacts

Standing near the back, leaning against the wall of the school building, a group of four girls watched with narrowed eyes.

This was the notorious “villain girl group,” or at least that was what the other students jokingly called them. They were not truly villains, of course, but they were dramatic, prideful, and easily annoyed by anything involving their crushes.

One of the girls, Reina, had been watching Haruto closely.
She liked him.

And she did not like how he looked at Aira.

“Why is Haruto always looking at her,” Reina muttered. “She fell on the mat. That is not even impressive.”

Her friend Saki crossed her arms. “She always gets attention. Even when she is just rolling on the ground.”

“That bump was so clumsy,” another girl added. “She should be embarrassed, but instead she is laughing.”

The fourth girl shrugged. “Maybe because Haruto is watching her. Obviously.”

Reina felt her chest tighten. She was not angry at Aira personally, but seeing Haruto move toward her so quickly made her jealous.

Hikari noticed the villain group staring and whispered to Aira, “You have fans.”

Aira blinked innocently. “Who?”

Hikari sighed. “Never mind.”

The Lesson Continues

After the collision, the rest of the class continued their rolling exercise. The teacher clapped, guided, corrected, and laughed with them. The green mat became dustier with every roll, and the girls’ skirts fluttered slightly with every motion.

Aira and Hikari rejoined the line after brushing off their clothes. Mei patted Aira’s shoulder.

“You okay?”

“Yes,” Aira replied. “Just slightly dizzy.”

Hikari grinned. “I think I rolled my brain.”

Everyone laughed again.

The atmosphere was light, warm, and full of school-life energy. It was one of those moments that felt simple but memorable.

Haruto stayed nearby, pretending to stretch, even though he clearly kept glancing in Aira’s direction.

Reina, watching from afar, sighed dramatically. “This is the worst class ever.”

After-Class Teasing

When the exercise ended, Miss Hayami dismissed them. The girls rushed to the water fountain to drink and cool off.

Hikari poked Aira’s cheek. “He looked at you like ten times.”

“No he did not,” Aira muttered.

Mei giggled softly. “He really did.”

Aira’s cheeks warmed. “Please stop.”

Hikari continued teasing her as they walked toward the school building, their uniforms slightly dusty but their smiles bright.

Aira’s Walk Home

After classes ended, Aira walked home carrying her school bag.

Her mother was waiting at the door.

“Aira. Why is your blouse so dirty? And your skirt too. What happened?”

Aira froze. “Ah… PE class.”

“PE class did this much?” her mother asked while lifting a stain on the fabric.

Aira nodded shyly. “Today was rolling in a mat class. I fell. And Hikari bumped me too.”

Her mother sighed, placing her hands on her hips. “Aira, you need to be more careful. Your uniform is not cheap, you know.”

Aira lowered her head. “Sorry…”

Her mother paused.
Then she smiled.

“It is fine. I can wash it. As long as you had fun.”

Aira’s eyes brightened. “I really did. Everyone was laughing. Even Sensei. And… Hikari rolled into me. It was so funny.”

Her mother brushed her hair gently. “Then that is good. You are at the age where fun memories are important. Just try to keep your clothes tidy next time.”

Aira hugged her mother.
The warmth of the day returned to her heart.

A Memory to Keep

Later that night, Aira sat on her bed staring at her clean uniform hanging near the window.

She thought of the warm sun, the green mat, Mei’s perfect roll, Hikari’s laugh, the collision, the dust, Haruto’s worried expression, and even the villain girls glaring from afar.

It was chaotic.
It was silly.
It was embarrassing.
But it was perfect.

Aira whispered to herself, “I think today will be one of my favorite memories.”

She closed her eyes and smiled.
