Classroom Handstand Challenges: Aira and Friends in 3-B
Morning Energy in 3-B
The morning sun spilled into classroom 3-B at Shirakawa High School, painting golden streaks across the rows of desks. On the surface, the room looked orderly. The chalkboard had faint remnants of yesterday’s math formulas, papers rustled quietly, and students sat in anticipation for the first bell.
Yet the back corner pulsed with quiet energy. Aira, Eri, and Mei huddled together, whispering and casting nervous glances toward the door.
Aira adjusted her dark blue blouse. “Are we really doing this again? Yesterday almost ended in disaster.”
Eri, stretching dramatically, replied, “Of course! Yesterday doesn’t count. We have to master the perfect handstand. I can feel it in my bones.”
Mei groaned. “I still can’t believe we survived yesterday without detention. I think Ms. Sato wanted to throw us into the sun for a while.”
Rivalry in the Classroom
Their conversation stopped when a ripple of laughter came from the front of the classroom. Reina and her clique—Lina, Mika, and Sayaka—sat there with arms crossed, smirking.
Reina whispered, “So the little acrobats are back. Let’s see if they can survive today.”
Eri bristled. “Ignore them! We can do this perfectly today.”
Aira groaned. “Ignore them? They’ll be waiting to make this worse.”
Mei whispered, “Then we’ll just have to survive like heroes.”
Handstand Attempt
As soon as the classroom quieted, Eri whispered, “On three. One… two… three!”
They launched into their handstands. For a moment, everything was perfect. Their balance was steady, and their confidence soared.
Then Reina’s group began whispering and nudging each other, tossing a pencil across the floor. Eri wobbled, Mei cursed under her breath, and Aira struggled to keep her posture.
At that precise moment, the door slid open, and Ms. Sato appeared, her gaze sharp.
“Girls,” Ms. Sato’s voice rang out. “Again?”
The villain girls giggled quietly. Aira felt her cheeks burn. Haruto stifled a laugh, shaking his head.
Ms. Sato’s voice grew firmer. “Explanation letters. All of you. Immediately. I will not tolerate another stunt like this in my classroom.”
Writing the Letters
As the girls sat down to write, Reina’s group whispered from their desks:
“Bet they can’t even land properly this time,” Lina said.
“Watch them fail again,” Mika added.
“This is better than reality TV,” Sayaka giggled.
Eri’s fists clenched under the desk. “They’ll regret teasing us.”
Aira leaned toward Haruto. “How do they always know when to ruin everything?”
He gave her a reassuring smile. “They just like picking on the best. You’re too noticeable, that’s all.”
Aira focused on her letter, carefully writing an apology, though her pen trembled slightly. Haruto stayed nearby, offering small jokes and quiet encouragement, making her giggle despite the tension.
Lunch Break Relief
At lunch, the girls sat near the window. Haruto arrived with two milk drinks, setting one in front of Aira.
“And this includes interest or penalties?” she teased.
“Interest in emotional consistency. Penalties only if you tease me again,” he replied with a smile.
The afternoon passed quietly until the last period, when Reina’s group cornered the trio near the lockers.
Haruto Stands Up
“Not bad surviving in there,” Reina said. “But don’t think you’re heroes now.”
Haruto stepped forward. “You should leave them alone.”
Reina raised an eyebrow. “And why would we listen to you?”
“Because they’re stronger than you think, and you should know better than to pick on them,” he said.
The girls hesitated and slowly stepped back. Aira breathed a sigh of relief.
Afternoon Victory
After class, the trio wrote detailed explanation letters while Haruto stayed nearby, offering support and small jokes.
When they finished, Aira handed her letter to Ms. Sato. The teacher read it carefully and nodded. “This is sincere. I hope you understand the importance of responsibility. Next time, I expect better judgment.”
Outside, Reina’s clique glared, but the trio felt victorious.
Haruto matched their pace, carrying drinks and offering one to Aira. “Someone has to make sure the handstand champions land safely,” he said, brushing a strand of hair from her face.
For the first time, embarrassment felt far away, replaced by laughter, friendship, and the gentle beginnings of something more.
